Reynolds' Collected Displayed with
Oscar-Nominated Costumes of 2000
(February 15, 2001, Los Angeles, CA) - Actress, Debbie Reynolds, collector of thousands of priceless costumes from the Golden Era of Hollywood, will receive the Crystal Star Award for her efforts in preserving film history by the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) on Saturday, February 24, 2001 (6:30 p.m.). The event will benefit the Thalians Mental Health Center at Cedars-Sinai and will be held at FIDM in Los Angeles. More than 75 costumes from 30 feature films, including the Oscar winning "Gigi" (1958) will be displayed adjacent to the costumes from the Academy Award nominated films of 2000: "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon"; "How the Grinch Stole Christmas"; "Gladiator"; "102 Dalmatians" and "Quills." FIDM's costume curator, Maggie Murray, correctly predicted the costume Oscar nominations for the 75th Academy Awards and will present the 9th Annual Exhibit of Motion Picture Costume Design alongside the Debbie Reynolds Collection February 26 - May 3, 2001 at the museum galleries 919 South Grand Avenue, Los Angeles.
The celebrities who wore the original costumes in Ms. Reynolds collection will be on hand on February 24th, including, Janet Leigh, Margaret O'Brien, Marsha Hunt and Ann Miller.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Thalians, Hollywood's first celebrity charity created in 1955. Since it's inception, the Thalians has raised $30 million to build The Thalians Mental Health Center at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in 1973. Named over a table at Jayne Mansfield's Pink Palace after the Goddess of Comedy, 'Thalia,' The Thalians is a star-fraternity, boasting an archive of the world's most adored of the silver screen.
