Two Legendary Beach Boys Step Off Stage
and Into the Frenzied Fast Food World

Mike Love and Bruce Johnston Turn Carhops at Biloxi Sonic Drive-In
And Find It's Not a Day at the Beach

(Biloxi, Miss., Nov. 13, 1998) ~ Customers at the Biloxi Sonic Drive-In were having 'Fun Fun Fun' with two of the Beach Boys as they delivered more than just 'Good Vibrations' ~ they actually delivered the food!

Sonic customers have been hearing the nostalgic music of the Beach Boys in Sonic Drive-In television commercials for the past two years. So, as the Beach Boys planned concerts in the Biloxi, Miss., area, they decided to stop by the local Sonic and try their hand at delivering some orders. Mike Love and Bruce Johnston felt right at home with the drive-in located right on the beach.

'This has been a lot of fun for us today,' said lead singer Mike Love. 'We love getting to interact with our fans. If it weren't for them, we wouldn't be here today.'

The Beach Boys legends spent more then 30 minutes delivering Sonic's signature items to eager fans.

'Carhopping is a lot harder than I thought it would be,' Love continued. 'You have to give them credit ~ delivering the food as quickly as they do without spilling it all over is quite a feat.'

'Mike and Bruce did a great job,' said Buddy McLain/Cary Harvey one of the owners of the Sonic Drive-In. 'I told them that if this gig with the band didn't pan out that they've got a job with Sonic! They said they'd keep that in mind for the future.'

Mike Love is a founding member of the Beach Boys. As lead singer and co-songwriter for the band, Love has been recording, performing and making guest (TAKE OUT 'GUEST') appearances for more than 35 years.

Bruce Johnston became a Beach Boy when Brian Wilson retired from touring in 1965. Johnston, also known for this GRAMMY AWARD WINNING 'I WRITE THE SONGS' (Barry Manilow), sings and plays keyboards for the band.

The Beach Boys recorded their first hit, 'Surfin,' in 1961. Since then, they have recorded such chart-topping songs as 'Surfin USA,' 'Surfer Girl,' 'Good Vibrations,' 'I Get Around,' 'California Girls' and 'Fun All Summer Long.' The band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1988. For more information on the Beach Boys, visit www.bdpr.com.
