VH1 GIVES OFF GOOD VIBRATIONS WITH THE WORLD PREMIERE
OF “ENDLESS HARMONY: THE BEACH BOYS AND THEIR MUSIC”

Two-Hour Documentary Premiering Sunday, August 23,
Provides In-Depth Portrait of Extraordinary American Band

Pasadena, CA, July 11, 1998 -- VH1 telecasts the world premiere of “Endless Harmony:
The Beach Boys and Their Music” Sunday, August 23, at 8PM (ET/PT). Produced exclusively for VH1 by Stephanie Bennett (“The Chuck Beny Story: Hail, Hail Rock ‘n’ Roll”), this two-hour documentary charts the musical life and times of one of rock’s most important and influential groups.

“Endless Harmony: The Beach Boys and Their Music” tells the remarkable story of a band that has survived enormous professional and personal obstacles, always in pursuit of harmony, happiness and the perfect wave.

Throughout “Endless Harmony,” Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Bruce Johnston and (from recent and vintage interview footage) the late Carl and Dennis Wilson talk about the inspiration behind their songs and how they were created. Brian, the mastermind behind The Beach Boys sound, deconstructs many of the familiar hits in the studio, and demonstrates how the different musical and vocal elements came together to create the classic songs. “Endless Harmony” also includes interviews with family members, musicians influenced by The Beach Boys work and footage from the group’s early TV movies, concert appearances and home videos.

“Endless Harmony,” which was directed by Alan Boyd (“Hey, Hey We’re The Monkees,” “The Beach Boys: Nashville Sounds”), is divided into two parts: “All Summer Long” (1961-1966) and “Heroes And Villains” (1966-1997):

“All Summer Long” (1961-1966) covers the early years of the group’s success, up to and including the artistic triumph of Brian Wilson’s masterpiece, Pet Sounds, the album which Paul McCartney claimed was a primary influence for The Beatles’ Sergeant Pepper ‘s Lonely Hearts Club Band. “All Summer Long (1961 - 1966)” begins with who they are, where they came from and how they came to be The Beach Boys.
“Heroes And Villains” (1966-1997) covers the rest of The Beach Boys career, a 30-year span that has seen the group through triumph and tragedy, and ultimate recognition as a genuine American institution.

“Endless Harmony” is produced by Stephanie Bennett and directed by Alan Boyd. Robert F. Katz is the Executive Producer of the special.
